In 1991, the Admissions Policy Committee asked that any reference to gender be eliminated from the club bylaws. The board unanimously approved this change and submitted the proposal to a special meeting of the full voting membership that was also unanimously approved. 

This change allowed a lady elected to membership in the club after age thirty to have full privileges of a resident member upon payment of the corresponding fee. President Pentony called this bylaw change “one of the most significant happenings in our Club’s 101-year history.”
