Founded in 1890 by a group of prominent Philadelphia businessmen and philanthropists in Bala, Philadelphia Country Club was simply known as “The Country Club.”

The club was first founded as a Polo club, hence the horse head logo. The logo is modeled after the club’s first horse named Mercury.
